Description
There are four forts in the Stratics world; Howl, Sonalit, Rudan and Frozen North. On heroes, there are currently seven forts: the four from Stratics + Ice Cave, Traitor Valley and ??? Each fort has a flag outside of it with the owning Guilds crest on it. To attack a fort, walk up to the door of a fort and activate it with the shift key. If there is a member of the defending guild online that is not in battle, they will be automatically summoned to defend that fort. Once a person initiates a fort attack, they are "locked out" from initiating any more fort attacks for 90 minutes, but can still join in other fort battles, provided that their guild is either attacking or defending.
Guilds that hold forts will periodically receive guild reputation points. These points are required to access parts of the world. The more forts you hold, the more points you will get.
Example: Pictured below is Sonalit Fort. The flag flying belongs to the guild defending it, which at the time was Kindred.
Fort Rules
These are rules that pertain to PVP and fortresses. The rest of the rules can be found here.
Revolving Door
Revolving door refers to a person leaving a fort fight in progress and coming in during the same fort fight. Since all dead hirelings are instantly healed to full health when a person leaves, it is possible to leave when most of a person's hirelings are dead and come right back, almost good as new. This is not an acceptable tactic and will get you in trouble, even cause your entire guild to be locked out from fort battles. This rule also applies to a person leaving a fort fight in progress and then giving his hirelings to another person, who then enters the fort fight, essentially using the same hirelings twice.
Summon and Run
Part of the risk of attacking a fort is not knowing who will be summoned to defend it. By attacking the fort, you acknowledge the risk that you might summon somone much more powerful than you and as such cannot "chicken out" just because you don't like your opponent. If the defender wishes to flee, they may, since they didn't choose to fight. The exception to this rule is if an attacker finds themselves outnumbered due to extra defenders joining, it is acceptable to flee the fight.
Joining Fort Battles
You are only allowed to join battles in which your guild is attacking or defending.
Howl Fort
Due to the need for guild reputation points, guilds that have "Dark Worlders" in them (players with 8 orbs) are not to attack Howl fort. Howl fort is to be left to the guilds that have no "Dark Worlders" in them, so that they can gain guild reputation points and access later towns.
Hit and Run
Hit and run refers to a player using four of his hirelings to attack another player and then fleeing with their fifth character. This is a cheap and cowardly tactic.
Logging
This is similar to hit and run, but in this case, a player will attack another player with all their hirelings and then logoff before they get hit, usually just before a hireling of theirs dies. This is also a cheap and cowardly tactic.
Fort Limits
Heroes Forts are all 4 vs 4 but Stratics forts can only hold a certain number of people. This limit not only applies to the number of people that can participate on a given side at once, but also the number of people that can participate in a given battle. For example:
Guild A attacks a fort. This fort can only hold three attackers and three defenders at a time. Guild A attacks with three people, summoning one defender from Guild B. Two more people from Guild B show up to defend, resulting in the maximum three attackers and three defenders. If a player from Guild A leaves the battle for any reason, a fourth person from Guild A cannot take their place, as Guild A has already reached their limit of three attackers.
The limits for Stratics forts are as follows:
Howl
- Two attackers
- Two defenders
Sonalit
- Two attackers
- Two defenders
Rudan
- Two attackers
- Two defenders
- Note that this fort used to be able to contain three attackers and three defenders, but due to technical issues has been limited to two of each temporarily
Frozen North
- Four attackers
- Four defenders
The limits for Heroes forts are as follows:
All forts are 4 attackers and 4 defenders - as a result summons are NOT allowed
